About Me

My story as an artist isn't as glamorous as some.

I was born in the beautiful South Island of New Zealand.

I am entirely self taught and continually trying to learn, yet I’ve always been inspired to draw and paint right from the very first day my mum put a crayon in my hand. But the inspiration really took off when I ventured outside of New Zealand and into the larger world...

It began when I was 17 and was granted a scholarship to study in Prague. I was absolutely captivated by the beauty of the Czech capital and was so incredibly fortunate to be able to travel all over Europe at such a young age. This not only sparked my creative senses but also nudged me into making a career choice that would, over the last 25 odd years, have me visiting almost every country on earth. As an International Pilot I’ve been able to either fly into or take vacations in nearly every destination imaginable.

This, naturally, has given me the ability to see, smell, hear and connect with so many different cultures and customs.

I believe that art is one of those very special things in life where; regardless where you are from and regardless which location you have found yourself in, you can connect with a stranger.

I love the feeling and the ability of being able to share myself and my emotions creatively.

I’m always amazed that with the stroke of a brush or with a harmony of chosen colors, whether digital or traditional, I am able to connect with people anywhere, to see their expressions and to feel their emotions…

This is why I love doing what I do…

My Work

Although I'm now by most counts considered me a "digital artist" - I have never really strayed too far from my traditional beginnings. I would consider myself more of a multimedia visual artist that simply found and grasped the ease of sketching and painting on a digital device out of necessity due to the vast amount of traveling I do - and primarily in the niche of portraiture.

I would absolutely LOVE to be able to create landscapes and emotional scenes of couples in the rain like the many masters that inspire me. But I'm simply not good enough. I therefore stick to the things that not only put a smile on my face but also those that I can do without embarrassing myself - faces and animals.
